Things to Know About Turnitin
- When creating a control class, the warehouse registration option must be selected in the “Optional Settings” section. In order to avoid 100% similarity in the works to be updated or re-uploaded, the “No Repository” option must be selected.
- The “No Repository” option should be selected so that documents to be uploaded outside the institutes are not saved in Turnitin control repositories.
- File formats to be uploaded to the system must have the protection feature turned off and in-text scanning must be possible.
- The files to be uploaded to the system must be compatible with “Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, OpenOffice (ODT) and Hangul (HWP) formats.
- The file size to be uploaded should be maximum 100 Megabytes (MB).
- The maximum length of the Assignment/Thesis to be uploaded should be 800 pages.
- The thesis/assignment that needs to be updated and uploaded to the system must be added to the system at least 24 hours after the previously uploaded document.
- It is important not to use this option because the uploads made by selecting the “Quick Submit” option in the Turnitin teacher interface automatically go to the repository.
- Deleting a document saved in the Turnitin repository from the control class and deleting it from the Turnitin Repository are different processes. It should be known that files deleted from the control class will not be deleted from the Turnitin repository. For this reason, if the uploaded documents are saved in the repository, they should not be deleted from the control class.
- Document deletion requests from the Turnitin repository are made only through the Turnitin Administrator account. For deletion requests for documents uploaded from Istanbul Gedik University accounts, you must create a permanent deletion request with Paper ID / Assignment Number.
- The Paper ID/Assignment Number is written opposite the uploaded file in the control class. Turnitin or the Library Documentation Department cannot process the Paper ID / Assignment Number of files deleted from the control class.
